ABOUT LITTLE LOVES

MY NAME’S FAYE

I’m a registered nurse & mum of two boys.

My passion for starting this course stemmed from two things. Being a first time mum; and realising that being a registered nurse had absolutely zero impact on being cool, calm and collected when it came to looking after my own children.

My son had a febrile seizure at 4 months old and when reflecting on how that all unfolded, despite having all the tools in my kit it was hard to feel confident when managing that situation.

The second came from my experience working for the New Zealand Air Ambulance. I helped facilitate transfers for children from around the country to Starship Hospital.

It’s no secret that our health system is pressured, and we want to empower you to confidently assess the little ones in your life. We need to be prepared for the worst case scenarios but how well do we go assessing out little ones day to day?

Together with my good friend, Dr Jessica Mead, who works as a paediatric doctor caring for some of the most unwell children in New Zealand, we feel it is important for parents to have the skills to assess their little ones at home for general unwellness and to know when to seek assistance.  We also want anyone in contact with children to be confident in providing lifesaving first aid if required.

With these skills we hope to see quicker intervention, speedier recoveries and less needs for transfer.
